FROM ROCK AND RUIN OUR WORLD WAS BUILT
Our story begins many eons before one would even talk of mortal heroes or even the first great tragedy. Titans ruled the world, causing havoc and nightmares for all, innocent or not. Volcanoes tortured the land, and tornadoes took over the air. Who could stop the great power they had?
Greek mythology has shown us the answer to this. Zeus, with his mighty bolt, freed the other gods, saving the day. He claimed his role as the god of the skies and ruler of all that was. His home was Olympus, and there he held his lovely wife Hera. No mortal has ever set foot here, nor would it be permitted.
Then, the rest of the roles were laid out. Poseidon was given the sea to do with as he pleased - and trust me, he did! He controlled the currents, the tides, and - most importantly - the waves. He could sink every ship on the sea if he wanted. A well known place called Atlantis was his kingdom. No mortal really could go there either. It's awfully hard for them to breath under water from what I hear.
Finally, the most fearsome of all, Hades ruled the Underworld. It isn't exactly a place you'd like to build a summer home or visit on vacation. This was where the dead were sent. Yes, this - of course - meant that the cruel and ruthless Hades ruled over life and death. Mortals arrived here often, but not alive... for obvious reasons.
With great power in both of their laps, you'd assume Poseidon and Hades would be happy with what they were given. Both had immense power beyond any mortal man's dreams, yet they still envied they brother Zeus and coveted everything he owned.
This is where our story starts. Mortals go on their day to day life, stumbling into gods without even realizing it. With their well kept disguises, they keep track of them. To their dismay, mortals are slowly losing faith in them. Maybe it was the wars and years of neglect, but the mortals begin to feel helpless. They are nothing without the gods to back them up.
One by one, mortals pray to the gods for help. The gods must find a way to gain back the respect and adoration, whether through fear or a gentle nudge. It must occur or else the end of mortals will be immanent.
